Important Community Governance Review meeting - 11 May

One of Transforming Trowbridge’s priorities is to support the initiative led by Trowbridge Town Council to extend the boundaries of the town.  Wiltshire Council is currently engaged on a boundary review exercise and the next Community Governance Review public consultation for the Trowbridge Area is being held at County Hall on Wednesday 11th May at 6:30pm.

This will be the last opportunity for people to have their say on the future of Trowbridge and ensure that the whole town can be represented by a single town council, with the ability to provide a full range of services and facilities for the whole community.

Wiltshire Council will be making a final decision on the town boundary at its meeting on Tuesday 12th July.

Transforming Trowbridge strongly supports the Town Council’s request that existing and new developments on the edge of the town should be included in a revised town boundary for Trowbridge and will be attending this public consultation meeting.

Wiltshire is a geographically large unitary authority and, in that context, it is logical to enlarge the major towns in the County so they have the resources to deliver strong local governance and services. This is the message we will convey at the meeting.

Wiltshire Council make Article 4 Direction on the Pavilions

Wiltshire Council made an Article 4 Direction yesterday (April 19th) removing permitted development rights for the change of use of the building at The Pavilions, White Horse Business Park and land within its curtilage from office use to residential use.

The effect of this is that a full planning application will be required if the applicant wishes to pursue the proposal for a change of use of this property to residential use.
Transforming Trowbridge is now going to work hard with the owners to find some tenants for this prestigious building.

Good news for Trowbridge - Bowyers site has been purchased

Innox Mills Ltd, a London-based consortium of property investors, has exchanged contracts on the purchase of the former Bowyers site and is assembling a team to redevelop this important site.

The site has been branded as “Innox Mills” and the following web-page is now live: http://www.innoxmills.co.uk/

Jonathan Dean from Innox Mills said: “We are really excited about this site and delivering a quality scheme for Trowbridge.  It is incredibly sad that the site has been derelict for nearly ten years and we are determined to see it brought back to life.

“We are fully committed to public consultation and will be looking to host a series of community engagement events later this year, with a planning application to follow in early 2017.”

PlanningSphere, a Bath-based planning consultancy, are acting as planning consultants for Innox Mills along with Bristol-based urban designers, Keep Architecture. A wider professional team is currently being assembled to cover all applicable technical disciplines.

A full technical assessment of the site context has been initiated to identify all the applicable constraints. This work will inform draft option proposals that will be viability tested, and subject to pre-application engagement with Wiltshire Council, statutory consultees and other stakeholders in due course. Innox Mills are also committed to engaging with the local community and neighbouring landowners.

Innox Mills plan to formulate a viable comprehensive mixed-use redevelopment planning application proposal. This proposal will be delivered by commercial and residential partners who will be selected in advance of a formal planning application submission.

The Trowbridge BID

LEYKERS Coffee Central co-owner Tracy Parker has taken over as chairman of Trowbridge's Business Improvement District task group so that she can stand up for independent businesses.

Transforming Trowbridge wishes her well.  The achievement of the BID is in our opinion very important to the success of Trowbridge as a centre for retail excellence.  The independent businesses have little to fear.  For a small investment they will enjoy the fruits of the BID programme currently being put together.  The implementation of the programme will inevitably make Trowbridge a more attractive place to shop and consequently, increase footfall.
